Free code reads at the parts counter are the single most expensive thing in automotive repair, because they lead people to buy the part the code mentions. A P0420 does not mean you need a catalytic converter, and a misfire code does not mean the coil failed.
Diagnosis is the work of proving which component in that circuit actually failed. That is what we do before we sell you anything.
What we handle
Check engine, ABS and warning lights
Stored and pending codes, freeze-frame data, and live testing to confirm the fault.
Drivability complaints
Hesitation, stalling, surging, poor fuel economy and no-start conditions.
Electrical faults
Charging and starting problems, parasitic draws, sensors and wiring issues.
Second opinions
If another shop quoted a large repair off a code, bring it here and we will verify it before you spend the money.
What is included
- Full code scan including pending codes and freeze-frame data
- Live data review under the conditions that trigger the fault
- Component-level testing before a part is condemned
- A plain-English explanation of what we found
What is not included
- Official state emissions testing, which is performed at authorized stations
- Performance tuning and delete work
What affects the price
We do not publish flat prices, because quoting a repair before diagnosing it is how people get surprised on the invoice. These are the factors that move the number on this type of job:
- Intermittent faults take longer than faults present at idle
- How much access is needed to test the circuit
- Prior part-swapping or aftermarket wiring, which adds variables
- Number of unrelated faults present at once
How the job runs
- 1
Tell us the symptom
When the light came on, whether it flashes, and what the vehicle does differently.
- 2
Scan and test
Codes, data and hands-on testing to isolate the failure.
- 3
Get the finding
We tell you the cause, the repair and the cost before proceeding.
- 4
Repair and reverify
We fix it, clear the codes and confirm the fault does not return.
